StuffIKnowAboutFood > Watch Your Portion Size

Just eating healthy food won't cause you to lose weight; most Americans simply eat too mcuh food, healthy or not. A healthy-seeming Baja Fresh burrito with chicken and no cheese or sour cream can be 1000 calories -- more than half a day's requirement -- just because it's so large.

To lose weight, be responsible with how much you eat. Most chefs will tell you that 4 oz. of meat -- a portion about the size of a deck of cards -- is sufficient. Do like chefs do and slice it thin and fan it out to make it look like more.

Watch your starch and even veggie portion sizes. With a little practice you'll be having 500-800 calorie meals and, once you're used to it, you'll feel full. Stick with it and you'll see, you don't have to eat so much.
