As we all progress in our careers, we'll be called on to lead others. At least, hopefully we will, rather than sitting in our cubes by ourselves having others yell at us. A few techniques I've learned:

• I went to a two-day event at Camp Pendleton and learned a lot about Marine Corps leadership techniques
• I took a conflict resolution course, which taught me techniques I'd highly recommend to any leader
• Nestlé donated the services of two of their trainers who taught a class on the Five Practices of Exemplary Leaders
• Jack Welch gave a speech on leadership that I found interesting, and which may provide some food for thought
