Leadership is soft skills too. You need to recognize contributions and excellence, celbrate victories, and create a spirit of community. Employees will always ask "do my efforts matter?" You need to show them, continually, that the answer is "yes!" Doing this will encourage commitment by your employees. Look out for your employees, not for yourself, and they will look out for you.
