It's not necessary to use long, literary sentences to express yourself well, or to look smart. Short, clear sentences can help other people understand exactly what you mean. Unless you're a really exceptional writer, wtick to short, simple, clear sentences, you'll have an easier time writing and people will have an easier time understanding you.
