GoalsAndObjectives > Definitions Of Success
As was pointed out, it's difficult to succeed if you don't know what success is. We (that is, all first-year MBA students) worked through a series of exercises to tease out our definitions of success. These definitions are "tangible, measurable and encompass as much of [my] life as possible." Here's mine. Yours may vary.
Professional
To be a success, professionally, I must have started several companies and either brought one to sustained growth and profit or sold one for over $5mm. My work must provide me with learning and challenge.
Community
I must be active in my community, either holding consistent volunteer positions in orgazations like the PTA, or representing my larger community politically.
Personal
I must have a family with one or more children, to whom I provide a relaxed and comfortable, but not opulent, life, filled with opportunity. To go with my lovely wife, I will have a couple of close friends.
